Phase 1 Pediatric Orthodontics
We recommend that children visit us for their first orthodontic consultation once they turn seven. This allows us to detect developmental concerns early and administer Phase 1 treatment if need be. Phase 1 treatment is given before braces and usually entails the use of removable oral devices or at-home intervention for harmful habits like prolonged thumb-sucking. Overall, Phase 1 treatment can set your child on the right path toward a healthy smile.

Traditional Orthodontics
One of the most tried-and-true orthodontic treatments, braces have helped generations of children and parents alike achieve straighter smiles. With this system, a silver bracket is placed on the front of each tooth and a metal archwire is threaded through each of them. A series of small elastic bands is placed over the brackets to ensure the wire stays in place. The wire wants to maintain its natural form, so it exerts a gradual pressure on teeth, shifting them into a more well-aligned position. Traditional braces can resolve even the most severe orthodontic issues within about two or three years.
Clear & Ceramic Braces
Clear/ceramic braces share the same structure as traditional braces, but they use tooth-colored and transparent materials. Because of this, your appearance will stay more natural throughout the course of your treatment. If you are an adult, teen, or older child, we understand that you don’t want to compromise your appearance to undergo orthodontic treatment. These braces are more fragile than metal braces, so they will require more care.
Damon Braces
Like traditional braces, Damon braces are fitted to the teeth. Instead of brackets, though, this system utilizes a sliding mechanism to tighten and shift the teeth. Therefore, the wires will move more naturally with the teeth as they shift, so your treatment is likely to be much more comfortable. Not only that, but your braces will also be more subtle and your treatment will be finished more quickly.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Maybe you’d love to have straighter teeth, but you simply cannot sacrifice your professional image. After all, we know that braces are often associated with kids and teens, so you wouldn’t want the other people in the dental office to see them! If that’s the case, you’ll love Invisalign. With this solution, all you have to do is wear customized clear aligners over your teeth. These trays are barely detectable when worn. Plus, they’re removable, so you can eat all of your favorite foods and brush and floss as you normally would.
Invisalign Teen
Do you have a teenager who is anxious at the idea of having to wear a “mouthful of metal” during high school or college? We understand that teens care greatly about their image, which is why we’re proud to say that we offer Invisalign Teen at our Nashua dental office!
Invisalign Teen is similar to regular Invisalign, but there are a few key differences. The main difference is the blue-dot technology that comes with every set of clear aligners. As the aligners are worn, the blue dot fades away, but it returns if your teen has not been wearing them as often as they should. This not only makes it easier for us to see whether they’re complying with their treatment plan, but it also lets them know when it’s time to move onto the next set. Should an aligner break or get lost, a limited number of back-up pairs are available.
Retainers & Oral Appliances
Although braces are typically used to correct orthodontic problems, our specialists can provide a variety of oral appliances to bring out the full potential of a patient’s smile. If, for example, your child loses a baby tooth too soon, a space maintainer can create the proper amount of space for their permanent teeth to come in eventually. Perhaps your little one needs a wider dental arch to make more room for their permanent teeth. In that case, we may suggest a palatal expander to widen the roof of the mouth.
You’ll probably also hear our team members talk about retainers quite a bit. Teeth may revert back to their original crooked positions after orthodontic treatment, but retainers are designed to prevent that from occurring. As long as you wear the device as our team recommends, you can maintain the healthy, gorgeous results you worked so hard to attain. Simply Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics even provides lifetime retainers for a small fee as part of our lifetime guarantee!
